Privacy

Short version: Nab can't go online, so it can't send anything anywhere. This website has no cookies, analytics or tracking. The only personal data I ever see is what you send me by email.

The Nab app

• Nab needs macOS's Screen Recording permission so it can take a still picture of your screen when you press ⌘⇧2 or choose Freeze & Select. It never records video or audio.
• Text in that picture is recognised on your Mac by Apple's built-in Live Text. Nothing is uploaded.
• The frozen picture is thrown away when you unfreeze. Nab keeps no history: what you copy goes to your clipboard and nowhere else.
• Nab can't go online at all. On the Mac App Store, an app can only use the internet if that's built into it, and it isn't built into Nab — you can check it yourself below. That also rules out ads and analytics, and there's no account to sign in to.
• If you've chosen to share crash reports with app developers in your Mac's settings, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports for Nab to me.

Check it yourself. In Terminal, run codesign -d --entitlements - /Applications/Nab.app. It lists the permissions macOS grants Nab. An app that can go online has com.apple.security.network.client in that list; Nab doesn't.

This website

• This site is plain pages: no cookies, no analytics, no tracking code.
• It's hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request details and may keep them briefly in its logs. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

If you email me

I use your address and message only to reply. They pass through Cloudflare on the way to my inbox, I don't share them with anyone, and I don't keep them longer than I need to help you.

Your rights

The only thing I could hold about you is an email you've sent me. Email hello@nabmac.app and I'll show you what I have, correct it or delete it. If you think I've mishandled your data, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.
